6 (1) In this section, “interim term insurance” means insurance subject to the terms and conditions of the policy for which application is made, in respect of a period of less than one month commencing at such time as the first monthly premium is paid and terminating upon the due date of such premium.

If a person is not entitled to the payment of a benefit on the basis of the periods of insurance under the legislation of the Parties, totalized as provided in Article 8, the entitlement of that person to the payment of that benefit shall be determined by totalizing these periods and periods of insurance under the legislation of a third State with which both Parties are bound by social security instruments which provide for totalizing of periods of insurance.

after an agreement has been concluded between the national insurers’ bureaux under the terms of which each national bureau guarantees the settlement, in accordance with the provisions of national law on compulsory insurance, of claims in respect of accidents occurring in its territory, caused by vehicles normally based in the territory of another Member State, whether or not such vehicles are insured.

The abolition of checks on green cards for vehicles normally based in a Member State which enter the territory of another Member State can be effected by means of an agreement between the national insurers’ bureaux, whereby each national bureau would guarantee compensation in accordance with the provisions of national law in respect of any loss or injury giving entitlement to compensation caused in its territory by one of those vehicles, whether or not insured.

Having regard to the 72/166/EEC Directive of the Council of 24 April 1972 (First Directive relating to motor insurance) which provides that national insurers' bureaux of the Member States shall conclude between themselves an agreement under which each national insurers' bureau shall guarantee settlement of claims occurring in its territory and caused by the use of vehicles normally based in the territory of another Member State, whether or not such vehicles are insured, in accordance with the requirements of its national law on compulsory insurance,

The Council calls upon the Commission to submit to it if necessary, depending on the results of this examination, a proposal on the measures to be taken on the basis of the Treaty in order not to compromise the existence of certain local production activities which are particularly vulnerable, while ensuring in the long term the withdrawal of the tax in force.
