86. rappelle sa ferme conviction que la peine de mort, en tant que violation du droit à l'intégrité personnelle et à la dignité humaine, est incompatible avec l'interdiction des peines cruelles, inhumaines ou dégradantes en droit international et invite le SEAE et les États membres à reconnaître formellement cette incompatibilité et à adapter la politique européenne sur la peine de mort en conséquence; souligne la nécessité d'interpréter les orientations de l'Union européenne concernant la peine de mort et la torture comme des orientations transversales;
86. Recalls its firm belief that the death penalty, as a violation of the right to personal integrity and human dignity, is incompatible with the prohibition of cruel, inhuman or degrading punishment under international law, and calls on the EEAS and the Member States formally to acknowledge this incompatibility and to adapt EU policy on capital punishment accordingly; emphasises the need to interpret the respective EU guidelines concerning the death penalty and torture as cross-cutting;
