It comprises resource input in the very beginning of the chain (fertilisers, etc.), food production, processing, packaging and distribution; and it ends with the consumers which might be a specific priority of a KIC (reduction of food waste, healthy nutrition, etc.).

In order to ensure sustainability in the cooperation between the NMI and DI of the participating States and to prepare the next generation of experienced metrology researchers, early-stage researcher mobility grants shall be made available to early-stage researchers from the NMI and DI of participating States to enable them to stay either in an NMI or DI, in an organisation benefiting from a research excellence grant or in another organisation participating in an EMRP research project at its own costs.

Although Turborouter has become a commercial software tool, the Authority considers that the RCN funds allocated to the sub-project ‘Methods and analytical tools for design and operation of integrated transport and logistics chains’ of Project 40049 which led to the development of the first software programme Turborouter concerned a phase of RD which qualified as industrial research within the meaning of the 1994 RD Guidelines. Research will focus on: development, validation and harmonisation of technologies and methodologies to ensure complete traceability throughout the food chain; scale-up, implementation and validation of methods in whole food chains; assurance of authenticity; validity of labelling; application of HACCP to the whole food chain.
