20. est conscient des différentes interprétations du traité relatif à l'archipel du Spitsberg, en ce qui concerne son application au plateau continental et aux zones maritimes de Svalbard/Spitsbergen, et se féliciterait, étant donné la relativement bonne accessibilité des ressources du plateau, d'un accord sur le statut juridique du plateau continental, qui reconnaîtrait les droits et les devoirs, au regard de la loi, des États du plateau continental; est convaincu que les éventuels différends seront résolus de façon constructive;
20. Is conscious of the different interpretations of the Svalbard/Spitsbergen Treaty with regard to its applicability to the continental shelf and the maritime zones of Svalbard/Spitsbergen, and, given the relatively good accessibility of resources in the continental shelf, would welcome an agreement on the legal status of the shelf acknowledging the legal rights and duties of the costal shelf states; is confident that any disputes which may arise will be dealt with in a constructive way;
