It may help in a search and rescue situation by being able to identify where the boat came from and give a police officer the opportunity to make a phone call so that he knows that when the boat is found on the beach, gee, all it did was come loose from its mooring and they don't have to call out the National Defence guys in a Labrador helicopter to go look for a body that was never in the boat in the first place.

Row 4: when Community Certificates are extended after 1.1.2015, or 1.1.2030 where Chapter 24a is applicable, or if a new dinghy is taken onboard, the item “with a set of oars, one mooring line and a baler” shall be crossed.

(47) Whereas products taken on board ship as supplies are used for consumption on board; whereas, these products, consumed as they are or used in the preparation of food on board, qualify for the refund applicable to unprocessed products; whereas, in view of the limited space available on aircraft, food has to be prepared before it is taken on board; whereas, with a view to harmonisation, rules should be adopted so as to enable the same refund to be given on agricultural products consumed on board aircraft as are given to those consumed after preparation on board ship;

(x) "freeboard" means the distance between the plane of maximum draught and a parallel plane passing through the lowest point of the side deck or, in the absence of a side deck, the lowest point of the upper edge of the full planking or plating;

The plate shall be visible in the whole space included within the following four planes, viz : the two vertical planes touching the two lateral edges of the plate and forming an angle measured outwards of 30º with the longitudinal median of the vehicle ; the plane touching the upper edge of the plate and forming an angle measured upwards of 15º with the horizontal ; the horizontal plane through the lower edge of the plate (however, if the height of the upper edge of the plate from the ground is greater than 1.20 metres, this latter plane shall form an angle measured downwards of 15º with the horizontal).
