Thanks to our own interventions and the interventions of NATO, and particularly our friends to the south in the United States, the situation that women faced under the Taliban has improved, but not to the degree that one would hope for or expect. The situation there is so fluid that great progress can be made, for example, in opening a school, and then they will burn it down.
