The Union issued a "Note verbale" on 6 March, urging Canada not to apply this law, which violates: (i) the rules of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea; (ii) the rules and procedures agreed in the framework of the NAFO regional convention, to which both Canada and the European Community are party.
