In English, these terms mean respectively, conjugal, matrimonial, nuptial, connubial, and consortium, and all are expressions of the several dimensions and elements of marriage and matrimonial law. The celebratory festival itself was the nuptiae, nuptials; the coniugium, conjugal, was the obligation to bring forth offspring in marriage; the consortium was the right and duty to sexual performance of one partner to the other; and the matrimonium being the several obligations pledged to each other and to the familia.
