Calls on the Commission to gather and analyse data related to maritime careers at all levels (from law to engineering and environmental management, from diving instructors to seamen and maritime technicians) and use such data to explore job opportunities at various levels – traditional, emerging and completely new ones which may come into existence;

Top bottleneck occupations can be found, for example, in the field of health (in particular medical doctors, pharmacologists and nurses), in the field of ICT (in particular IT consultants and software programmers), in the field of engineering (in particular specialised engineers) and in the field of finances (business professionals, e.g. accountants).

That's true, and also some of the recognized technicians may do that as part of the job, or it may be their entire job.

19. Stresses that the existence of sound and effective STI systems cannot be separated from the presence in all Member States of high-quality, inclusive public education systems capable of promoting access for all on a non-discriminatory basis to the highest educational levels; advocates special attention to the areas of science and engineering, the environment and health; emphasises that in some of those fields and in some Member States years of disinvestment or underinvestment have resulted in a severe lack of specialised personnel, including technicians and researchers, and that this trend needs to be reversed;

(H) Whereas the dismissed workers belong to highly skilled, well-educated or specialised workers: 23,08% are engineering science technicians, 22,26% are engineers, 22,91 are manufacturing labourers and 21,60% are machine operators and assemblers.

Tech.; as a certified engineering technologist using the designation CET; as an applied science technologist using the designation AScT; in Quebec, a technologist is certified as a technologue professionnel, using the designation TP; in Alberta, a technologist can also be certified as a registered engineering technologist using the designation RET.
