The European System of Central Banks (ESCB) requires, for the fulfilment of its tasks, the production of statistics on interest rates applied by monetary financial institutions (MFIs), with the exception of central banks and money market funds (MMFs), to deposits and loans vis-à-vis households and non-financial corporations, the main purpose of which is to provide the European Central Bank (ECB) with a comprehensive, detailed and harmonised statistical picture of the level of interest rates applied by these institutions and their changes over time.

The sole purpose of the Census is to secure general statistical information regarding the population, agriculture, and trade of the country, and information is required from individuals only to permit the completion of such general statistics.

The statistical information collected in accordance with ECB Regulation No ECB/1998/16 is used to establish the consolidated balance sheet of the MFI sector, the principal aim of which is to provide the ECB with a comprehensive statistical picture of monetary developments covering the aggregated financial assets and liabilities of MFIs located in the participating Member States, which are viewed as one economic territory.

An increase is also observed, from about 20 % to 24 %, in the percentage of animals used for “other” toxicity tests than those listed in the statistical Table.

Since some of our witnesses mentioned that they have studied that issue, would it be possible to get from them a statistical chart relating to the increase of student debt in Canada over the last 10 years, so that we have a better idea of how great the problem is?
