Fishing for anchovy with pelagic trawls within the geographical area referred to in the first subparagraph shall be prohibited’.

In addition, it has been agreed with the Greenland authorities that the entire redfish quota in zones V and XIV may be fished by pelagic trawl.

With respect to consultation with inshore fish harvesters, the 2007 management plan for the Gulf herring fishery allows for up to three mobile gear licence holders to fish using midwater trawls.

The number of mobile gear herring licences in the Gulf has not been increased; rather, two existing licence holders are authorized under their existing licences to use different vessels with midwater trawls instead of purse seine nets.

Such nets can be towed either on the bottom (bottom trawl net) or in midwater (pelagic trawl net).

They exchanged information on take-up for each fishing category and welcomed the excellent take-up recorded in respect of almost all fishing opportunities (with the exception of seasonal exploitation in the case of seine and pelagic trawl fishing and no take-up for sponge-fishing. The two sides agreed that the fishing opportunities applicable in respect of the third year covered by the Protocol should be extended in respect of the fourth year. Under Article 7 of the Agreement, the two sides agreed that the whole of the month of February 1992 should be considered a biological recovery period for trawlers (Nothern zone).
