Le fait d'avoir harmonisé la TPS avec la TVQ, en 1991, a fait en sorte qu'avant l'harmonisation, l'impôt sur les profits des PME, qui était à 3,45 p. 100, a été augmenté à 5,75 p. 100, donc une augmentation assez draconienne de 66 p. 100, parce qu'on subissait, avec l'ajustement de la TPS avec la TVQ, l'harmonisation, la fusion des deux taxes, un manque à gagner dans les coffres du gouvernement du Québec.
Following the harmonization of the GST and the QST in 1991, the tax on profits generated by small and medium size businesses rose from 3.45% to 5.75%, a rather drastic increase of 66%, because of the shortfall suffered by the Quebec government as a result of that harmonization.
