When we compare it to the grand jury system of the United States, when we look at coroners' or provincial judges' inquests, and when we look at some of the other processes where an accused is not allowed to have direct contact, even in the court, with the victim, I find this to be a well-balanced measure that does not in any way diminish the accused's substantive liberties.
