The reporting by the Member States and air navigation service providers on the level of occurrence reporting, on an annual basis, aiming at measuring the level of reporting and addressing the issue of improvement of reporting culture.

The key point here, following the hearing held jointly by the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs and the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs last October, is the briefing of the ‘Article 29’ working group which, on 22 November 2006, clearly confirmed our concerns, namely that, in the SWIFT case, data that should manifestly not have been concealed from the US authorities had in fact been concealed and that, accordingly, the 1995 Directive had not been complied with.

This, Mr President, ladies and gentlemen, is the summary report of our work.

16. Notes that about 30% of Parliament's texts are translated externally, basically non-legislative texts, 19% being the translation of the Verbatim Report of Proceedings and 11% other non-legislative texts; notes that a total allocation of EUR 12.4 million has been entered in the preliminary draft estimates for 2004 for this purpose; invites its Secretary General to examine alternative arrangements for the translation of the Verbatim Report with a view to reducing cost and to submit them to the budgetary authority before 1 September 2003; has decided, in the meantime, to place an amount of EUR 3.6 million entered against Item 1872 (" ...[+++]Other services and work sent out for translation and typing") in the reserve pending the submission of such a report;
