The grant agreement shall, where appropriate and to the extent possible , reflect the general principles laid down in the Commission Recommendation on the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers, principles of research integrity, the Commission Recommendation on the management of intellectual property in knowledge transfer activities, the Code of Practice for universities and other public research institutions as well as the gender equality principle laid down in Article 16 of Regulation (EU) No .

The grant agreement shall, where appropriate, reflect the general principles laid down in Commission Recommendation on the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers, principles of research integrity, Commission Recommendation on the management of intellectual property in knowledge transfer activities and Code of Practice for universities and other public research institutions as well as the gender equality principle laid down in Article 15 of Regulation (EU) No XX/XX [Horizon 2020].

The cross-cutting issues will be supported by a number of horizontal support measures, including support to: enhancing the attractiveness of the research profession, including the general principles of the European Charter for Researchers; strengthening the evidence base and the development of and support for ERA (including the five ERA initiatives) and the Innovation Union; improving framework conditions in support of the Innovation Union, including the principles of the Commission Recommendation on the management of intellectual property and exploring the possibility of setting up an European Intellectual Property Rights valorisation ...[+++] instrument; administration and coordination of international networks for excellent researchers and innovators, such as COST.

To keep the administration requirements for the Principal Investigator to a minimum, in most cases only a mid-term scientific report is foreseen.

The Commission also adopted ERC-specific Decisions on implementing arrangements, in particular the ERC Grant Agreement covering frontier research projects, and associated ERC Supplementary Agreement setting out the obligations of the host organisation to the Principal Investigator [8]; and the ERC Rules for the submission of proposals and the related evaluation, selection and award procedures relevant to the Ideas Specific Programme [9].

The general principles reflected in the European Charter for Researchers and in the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers could help to establish a genuine European labour market for researchers, while respecting their voluntary nature.
