Mr. Bennett, I think it's quite appropriate that you're here, because I, in a former life, have done some health and safety stuff as well, and it seems to me that what's gone on in the area of health and safety in industry and in the workplace is a kind of microcosm of what we're talking about now in terms of environmental regulation for Canada and indeed the world.

The key factor in the administration of health and safety is worker involvement, trade union involvement, committee involvement in the administration of health and safety in the workplace.

16. Stresses the importance of stock assessments, and calls for enhanced cooperation among scientific institutes in both basins, including the exchange of scientific data and the sharing of information; believes that the EU should promote, stimulate and facilitate cooperation and joint work between EU scientific teams and their counterparts in other involved non-Member States; welcomes, in this respect, the ‘Marine Knowledge 2020’ initiative, which aims to make data on the marine environment available to a large number of potentially interested parties, including public, industrial, educational and research bodies and civil society;

32. Asks the Member States and the Commission to ensure a systematic gender-sensitive approach, when developing national and Community OHS strategies and when collecting statistics, conducting surveys and carrying out OHS research; calls on the Member States and the Commission to make use of the funding possibilities provided in this regard by the PROGRESS programme, in particular under the section concerning gender equality;
