National Council of Aboriginal Federal Employees [ NCAFE | Aboriginal National Network Initiative ]

The Commission will work where appropriate within a broader framework of non discrimination to highlight disability as a human rights issue in the EU’s external action; raise awareness of the UN Convention and the needs of people with disabilities, including accessibility, in the area of emergency and humanitarian aid; consolidate the network of disability correspondents, increasing awareness of disability issues in EU delegations; ensure that candidate and potential candidate countries make progress in promoting the rights of people with disabilities and ensure that the financial instruments for pre-accession assistance are used to i ...[+++]mprove their situation.

The agency supports the three councils representing aboriginal employees, employees with disabilities and the visible minorities — the National Council of Aboriginal Federal Employees, the National Council of Federal Employees with Disabilities and the National Council of Visible Minorities, respectively — by providing the councils with secretariat and financial support in order that they can help us achieve a representative public service.

Points to the important work carried out by the Committee on Petitions in the context of the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities; takes due note, in this regard, of the concluding observations by the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities on the initial report of the European Union; highlights that the European Union Framework should be adequately resourced, in line with the requirements of the Convention; calls, in this respect, for the capacity of the Committee on Petitions and its Secretariat to be enhanced, enabling the Committee properly to fulfil its protection role ...[+++]; calls for the establishment of a designated officer responsible for the processing of disabilities-related issues; emphasises the Committee's willingness to work closely with other legislative committees involved in Parliament’s network on disabilities; notes the need for further efforts and action on behalf of the Committee in the protection of people with disabilities, such as actions directed to promote the swift ratification of the Marrakesh Treaty;
