In relation to everyday life, this symptom can take the following form: people tell me that, when they are talking, all of a sudden they recall a woman's crushed face; while they are watching TV, they hear the word “rape” and they recall their experience in Rwanda; they are walking down the street and they see a child, and they remember a child crucified on a barn door in Bosnia.
