12 (1) Le chef, l’ingénieur-surintendant ou le surintendant a la faculté de refuser à un navire le passage par un canal ou toute partie d’un canal s’il juge que la cargaison, la coque, l’équipement ou les machines sont, par leur nature ou leur état, susceptibles de mettre en danger les ouvrages du canal, de retarder la navigation ou d’amener l’obstruction du canal par le navire.
12 (1) The Chief, Superintending Engineer or Superintendent may deny a vessel passage through a canal or any part thereof when, in his opinion, the character or condition of the cargo, hull, equipment or machinery is such as to endanger the structures pertaining to the canal, cause delay to navigation or render the vessel liable to obstruct the canal.
