Be it remembered that on the day of A.D. , at A.B., of , (occupation), (date of birth) was tried on the charge that (state fully the offence of which accused was acquitted) and was found not guilty of the said offence.

I do see a bit of a contradiction in suggesting on the one hand that judges should be given greater discretion in some instances—greater discretion, for example, in the determination of what's a presumptive offence or when a youth should be transferred—but at the same time eliminating the discretion they have with respect to the introduction of statements, which in my opinion is perhaps the most crucial bit of evidence that can be introduced at a trial.
