(5) The Community and the Member States are committed to implementing internationally agreed activities relating to the conservation and protection of forests, in particular, the Proposals for Actions of the Intergovernmental Panel and Forum on Forests, the Expanded Work Programme on Forest Biological Diversity of the Convention on Biological Diversity, as well as the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Kyoto Protocol.

(7 ) The Community and the Member States are committed to the implementation of internationally agreed activities relating to the conservation and sustainable management of forests including , in particular, the Proposals for Actions of the Intergovernmental Panel and Forum on Forests and the Expanded Work Programme on Forest Biological Diversity of the Convention on Biological Diversity .

considers that the 5 Conference of the Parties should establish an ad hoc technical expert group on forest biological diversity on the basis of recommendation V/7 of the SBSTTA, taking also into account the proposals for action of the Intergovernmental Panel on Forests (IPF), the outcome of the Intergovernmental Forum on Forests (IFF) and CSD8.

Recalls the main international commitments related to forests, notably the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED), the Framework Convention on Climate Change (FCCC), the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the Convention to Combat Desertification (CCD) as well as the work of the Intergovernmental Panel on Forests (IPF) and its successor the Intergovernmental Forum on Forests (IFF).
