F. whereas the biological information on the western stock of horse mackerel is not sufficient for a full stock assessment; whereas, however, the STECF advice indicates that a harvest control rule based on the trend in egg abundance would provide for sustainable stock management; whereas the harvest control rule should be equally based on the precautionary advice given for average recruitment conditions and on recent total allowable catches adjusted by a factor that reflects trends in the stock abundance as measured through egg production;

Member States send the Commission a statistical summary of the stocks existing at the end of each month, stating the number of days of average consumption of the previous calendar year that they represent.

1. Member States shall submit to the Commission a statistical summary showing stocks existing at the end of each month, drawn up in accordance with Article 5(2) and (3) and Article 6 and specifying the number of days of average consumption in the preceding calendar year which those stocks represent.

3. In the statistical summary, stocks of jet-fuel of the kerosene type shall be reported separately under the category referred to in point (b) of Article 2.

There is a need to adapt and simplify the Community statistical reporting mechanism concerning oil stocks.

The constraints adopted for the management of cod stocks will assist the sustainable management of that part of the Northern hake stock concerned which resides outside these areas.
