Urges all Burundian parties – the government, opposition and civil society – to restore confidence and to engage in an inclusive dialogue in order to prevent any further deterioration of the situation in the country; recalls that it is only by seeking a consensual solution through substantive negotiations that a sustainable political outcome can be reached in the interests of the Burundian people and of democracy in order to bring the country out of the current impasse and prevent it from sliding back into civil war – a development that would undoubtedly have a negative impact on security in the wider Great Lakes region and could jeo ...[+++]pardise the elections in the DRC and Rwanda;

2. Urges all Burundian stakeholders to resume the dialogue on all areas of disagreement between the parties as soon as possible, since only dialogue and consensus based on respect for the Arusha Agreement and the constitution of Burundi, can pave the way for a lasting political solution that would consolidate and preserve peace and security in Burundi and stability in the Great Lakes Region, deepen democracy and the rule of law, and restore a peaceful and secure environment to encourage the return of the refugees;
