Mme Cheryl Gallant: Monsieur le Président, je félicite l'ancien ombudsman du ministère de la Défense nationale, André Marin, pour les travaux menés par son bureau dans l'enquête sur les plaintes relatives à des tests de substances chimiques pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Ce rapport de l'ombudsman a certainement joué un rôle dans l'élaboration d'un programme d'indemnisation de ces anciens combattants, car le programme a été annoncé à peu près au même moment où le rapport de l'ombudsman a été rendu public.
Mrs. Cheryl Gallant: Mr. Speaker, I congratulate the former DND ombudsman, André Marin, and the work done by his office in investigating the complaints concerning chemical testing during World War II. That report by the ombudsman certainly played a role in the program that was announced to compensate those veterans, as the program was announced at about the same time that the ombudsman's report was released.
