Is the Commission aware of negotiations between Japan and Russia to ship radioactive waste from Europe to Japan via the Arctic from 2002 in order to circumvent widespread international opposition to shipments of radioactive nuclear waste and is there any action the Commission can take to halt such shipments which would have to be routed via the Irish Sea or the west of Ireland to reach the Atlantic or, alternatively, through the English Channel and the North Sea?
