In April 2002, the PKK was dissolved. In that same month, the Congress for Freedom and Democracy in Kurdistan (KADEK) was founded.

Basically, all democracies have some protection the United States has in its constitution the right to free speech, and that has played a very important role in preventing Congress from passing legislation that would in fact have limited the freedom of the press.
