Outstanding very short-term financing balances shall be remunerated at the representative domestic three-month money market rate of the creditor's currency prevailing on the trade date of the initial financing operation or, in the event of a renewal pursuant to Articles 10 and 11 of this Agreement, the three-month money market rate of the creditor's currency prevailing two business days before the date on which the initial financing operation to be renewed falls due.

1. Articles 9 and 10(c) shall not apply to shares provided to or by the members of the ESCB in carrying out their functions as monetary authorities, including shares provided to or by members of the ESCB under a pledge or repurchase or similar agreement for liquidity granted for monetary policy purposes or within a payment system.

The Council adopted a decision to renegotiate a monetary agreement between France, on behalf of the European Community, and Monaco with a view to adjusting the ceiling for the issuance of coins, electing a jurisdiction for possible dispute settlement and adapting the format of the existing agreement to the new common model for monetary agreements.

In terms of the currency arrangements and the German interest in this, the argument put forward was something like the following: If Germany could get the other currencies around it tied into it, it could run a price stability policy more easily, because it would not envisage so much of an exchange rate problem in terms of appreciating vis-à-vis France, Netherlands and Italy.
