12. The European Council underlines the benefits of sport for young people and urges the need for special heed to be paid, in particular by sporting organisations, to the education and vocational training of top young sportsmen and -women, in order that their vocational integration is not jeopardised because of their sporting careers, to their psychological balance and family ties and to their health, in particular the prevention of doping.

Der Europäische Rat verweist auf die positive Wirkung sportlicher Betätigung für die Jugend und fordert, dass insbesondere Sportorganisationen der Erziehung und der beruflichen Ausbildung junger Spitzensportler besondere Aufmerksamkeit schenken, damit ihre berufliche Eingliederung, ihre seelische Ausgeglichenheit und ihre familiären Bande sowie ihre Gesundheit, wo die Dopingprävention besonders zu berücksichtigen ist, nicht durch ihre sportliche Laufbahn gefährdet werden.
