On 8 December 2003 the Council adopted Joint Action 2003/873/CFSP (1) amending and extending until 30 June 2004 the mandate of the Special Representative of the European Union for the Middle East peace process.

The mandate of Mr Marc OTTE as the European Union Special Representative (EUSR) for the Middle East peace process, as set out in Joint Action 2003/873/CFSP, is hereby extended until 28 February 2005.

(11) Given the importance of promoting innovation in the food processing sector, the scope of the existing Chapter of Regulation (EC) No 1257/1999 for improving processing and marketing of agricultural products should be extended to provide support for the development of innovative approaches in food processing.
