Coming at a time of renewed and increased tensions in the region the holding of the meeting was in itself of particular significance in that Europe was seen as instrumental in bringing together around the same table - for the first time in eight months (since 6 June 1986 when the Contadora and support group countries presented the third draft of the Peace Act) the Foreign Ministers of the five Central America Countries.
Le fait de tenir cette reunion pendant une periode de tension renouvelee et accrue dans la region a revetu en lui-meme une importance particuliere en ce sens que l'Europe a ete consideree comme l'agent grace a qui ont pu etre reunis autour de la meme table, les Ministres des Affaires Etrangeres des cinq pays d'Amerique centrale, alors que c'etait la premiere fois depuis huit mois, exactement depuis le 6 juin 1986, date a laquelle les pays du groupe de Contadora et de son groupe d'appui ont presente leur troisieme projet d'accord de paix.
