Demersal trawl means gear which is actively towed by one or more fishing vessels across the seabed and consisting of a net having a cone- or pyramid-shaped body (as trawl body) closed at the back by a codend which is horizontally opened by otter boards in contact with the bottom or in the case of two vessels by the distance between the vessels.
chalut démersal , un engin activement remorqué par un ou plusieurs navires de pêche sur les fonds marins et constitué d'un filet ayant un corps conique ou pyramidal (le corps du chalut), fermé par un cul de chalut, qui est ouvert horizontalement par des panneaux, en contact avec le fond ou, dans le cas de deux navires, par la distance entre ces navires.
