The risk assessment has, based on the available information, determined that in the European Community the substance 2-nitrotoluene is used in the synthesis of intermediates for the manufacture of agricultural and rubber chemicals, explosives, heat sensitive colorants, azo and sulphur dyes, and in the organic synthesis of a wide variety of compounds including petrochemicals, pesticides and pharmaceuticals.
Sur la base des informations disponibles, l'évaluation des risques a permis d'établir que, dans la Communauté européenne, la substance 2-nitrotoluène est utilisée pour la synthèse d'intermédiaires dans la fabrication de produits chimiques agricoles et de produits chimiques destinés au traitement du caoutchouc, d'explosifs, de colorants pyrométriques, de colorants azoïques et de colorants au soufre, ainsi que pour la synthèse organique de toute une série de composés incluant les produits pétrochimiques, les pesticides et les produits pharmaceutiques.
