Researchers are now trying to turn the knowledge gained during the first 3 years of the project into therapeutic applications, by combining cell therapy (encapsulation in a three-dimensional (3D) polymer matrix of genetically engineered cells) and cochlear implants (an electronic device that directly stimulates the sensory neurons of the inner ear) in an animal model of pathological deafness.
Les chercheurs s'efforcent actuellement de transformer les connaissances acquises au cours des trois premières années du projet en applications thérapeutiques, par une combinaison de la thérapie cellulaire (encapsulation dans une matrice en polymères tridimensionnelle (3D) de cellules génétiquement modifiées) et des implants cochléaires (dispositif électronique qui stimule directement les neurones sensoriels de l'oreille interne) dans un modèle animal de surdité pathologique.
