Euro-Argo ERIC shall coordinate and strengthen the European contribution to the international Argo Programme as endorsed by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) and by the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO).

Dissemination of the data shall be undertaken either in the ‘pull mode’, i.e. by downloading from the data centres web sites; or in the ‘push mode’, whereby regular data files will be provided to the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) Global Telecommunication System (GTS), to the International Argo Data Centres, to the European Marine Observation and Data Network (EMODnet), to the Copernicus Marine Service and to specific users upon request.

In order to prepare for the unfortunate event of an accident, outbreak or deliberate use of CBRN, calls on the Commission to establish reporting mechanisms to provide a link between the work of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism and other EU early-warning systems in the relevant areas of health, the environment, food production and animal welfare; calls also on the Commission to establish mechanisms for exchanges of information and analyses with international bodies such as the World Health Organisation, the World Meteorological Organisation and the Food and Agriculture Organisation;

The Agency shall also cooperate actively with other bodies such as the European Space Agency, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the Council of Europe and the International Energy Agency as well as the United Nations and its specialised agencies, particularly the United Nations Environment Programme, the World Meteorological Organisation and the International Atomic Energy Authority.

International cooperation should build on existing cooperation schemes developed by European national and intergovernmental actors with international counterparts, e.g. the World Meteorological Organisation, and be developed for new areas through the Group on Earth Observations (GEO) which is coordinating efforts to build a Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS).

An effective cooperation already exists in the field of meteorology within the World Meteorological Organisation and in particular between Europe and the USA.
