On 25 May 1999, Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschaapij NV (KLM), the Dutch national airline, informed the Commission of its decision to withdraw the notification of its planned acquisition of the 50% of the shares in Martinair Holland NV (Martinair), one of the main Dutch charter airlines, that it does not already own.
