On top of recent initiatives by the EU to shape the development aspects of the round with new commitments to flexible treatment and tariff and quota-free market access for the poorest countries, Commissioner Mandelson will today urge African Trade Ministers to back new rules for trade facilitation that could dramatically increase developing countries’ capacity to trade.
En plus des initiatives récentes lancées par l'UE pour donner corps au volet "développement" du cycle, grâce notamment à de nouveaux engagements en faveur d'un traitement flexible et d'un accès au marché en franchise de droits et non contingenté pour les pays les plus pauvres, le commissaire Mandelson exhortera aujourd'hui les ministres africains du commerce à appuyer les nouvelles règles de facilitation du commerce, qui pourraient renforcer de manière spectaculaire la capacité des pays en développement à commercer.
