A study for the rehabilitation of the ash-dumps at Obilic/Obiliq was completed, as was another study for the institutional development of water utilities.

Otherwise these are perfectly healthy cattle. They are going to incineration after they are slaughtered and then their ashes are dumped in landfill sites.

Although imports from the US may have dropped off in recent months the Commission nevertheless believes that given past behaviour, dumped imports would increase again without the imposition of provisional measures. This increase in the market share of US soda ash producers coincided with a serious deterioration in the position of the Community soda ash industry. Community production of soda ash fell from nearly 6.8 million tonnes in 1990 to 2.9 million in the first half of 1993 and sales fell from 6 million tonnes to 2.5 million tonnes over the same period.

They were imposed because an investigation by the Commission, covering the period 1 January 1992 to 30 June 1993 and carried out at the request of the European Chemical Industry Council (CEFIC), revealed that US exporters of soda ash had been unfairly dumping their product on the European market by selling substantial quantities of soda ash at less than the cost of production.
