S'agissant de la République démocratique du Congo, le Conseil a exprimé son soutien actif aux efforts de paix renouvelés sur la base de l'accord de cessez-le feu de Lusaka et des résolutions pertinentes du Conseil de sécurité des Nations Unies ; le Conseil a suivi de près la situation au Rwanda et a adopté le 19 novembre une nouvelle position commune sur ce pays ; en ce qui concerne le Burundi, le Conseil a mené des efforts diplomatiques intenses pour soutenir la mise en place, le 1 novembre 2001, d'un gouvernement de transition d'union nationale.
Concerning the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Council has declared its active support of the renewed peace efforts based on the agreement of Lusaka concerning the ceasefire and on the relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council. The Council has closely followed the situation in Rwanda and on 19 November specified a new collective standpoint with regard to Rwanda. Concerning Burundi, the Council provided intense diplomatic endeavours in support of the formation, on 1 November 2001, of an interim government of national unity.
