The Council, the Commission and Parliament, through its President, are agreed about the line to pursue, which is based on respect for the result in Ireland and also respect for the almost five hundred million citizens who make up the rest of the European Union. We cannot expect that less than half a million people should decide the destiny of five hundred million.
El Consejo, la Comisión y el Parlamento —en boca de su Presidente— están de acuerdo en la línea a seguir, que, en primer lugar, parte del respeto al resultado de Irlanda y del respeto también al resto de casi quinientos millones de ciudadanos que componemos la Unión Europea, porque no se puede pretender que haya menos de medio millón de personas que decidan el destino de quinientos millones.
