(2) Where it is impracticable to operate the power ventilation system referred to in subsection 254(2) continuously whenever motor vehicles are on board, the power ventilation system shall be operated for a limited period daily, as the weather permits, and for a sufficiently reasonable period of time prior to the unloading of any motor vehicle to ensure that the deck is free of gas prior to such unloading.
(2) S’il n’est pas possible de faire fonctionner continuellement le système de ventilation mécanique visé au paragraphe 254(2) lorsque des véhicules automobiles sont à bord d’un navire, il faut le faire fonctionner un certain temps chaque jour, si les conditions atmosphériques le permettent, ainsi qu’avant le déchargement, pendant une période suffisamment longue pour garantir qu’il n’y a pas de gaz sur le pont.
