One of the reasons to use dioxins as an example is that the sectors that have been identified by the Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment as the largest emitters of toxins include and the list is lengthy municipal incineration, residential wood combustion, sintering plants, the use of salt-laden wood in boilers, the operation of electric arc furnaces, the operation of any diesel-powered vehicle or equipment, and sewage sludge incineration and handling.
