The International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGRFA) was adopted on 3 November 2001 by the 31st FAO Ministerial Conference.

The resulting International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture was approved by the Conference of the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) on 3 November 2002, with 116 favourable votes and two abstentions.

9. Samples of processed products destined for bio-gas or composting plants or landfill, taken directly after heat treatment, must be free from heat-resistant pathogenic bacteria spores (Clostridium perfringens absent in 1 g of the products).

The Council took note of information from the Presidency and the Commission on the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture which was adopted on 3 November during the last FAO conference in Rome.

Resistance in pathogenic bacteria affecting plants was noted from an early stage.
