Support should therefore be focused on the core network and on projects of common interest in the field of traffic management systems, in particular the air traffic management systems resulting from the new-generation European air traffic management system (the SESAR system), which require Union budgetary resources of about EUR 3 000 million, as well as the Intelligent Transport System (ITS), Vessel Traffic Monitoring and Information Systems (VTMIS), River Information Services (RIS) and the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS).

Of course, if the gas industry expands in the area of the Mackenzie Delta and the Beaufort Sea, it will also increase the maritime traffic on our rivers.

River Information Services (RIS) and its related projects involve traffic management infrastructure on the inland waterway network.
