Despite the challenging times, Member States have performed better than ever in transposing EU rules into national law on time according to the European Commission's Internal Market Scoreboard published today.

Calls on the Commission to ensure that existing tools such as SOLVIT, the Internal Market Scoreboard, Internal Market Information System, ‘Your Europe Advice’ and ’Your Europe’ are effectively interconnected so as to make it possible to monitor the proper and timely transposition of EU directives;

E. whereas the publication of the Internal Market Scoreboard has consistently helped enhance the transposition of single market legislation by providing objective and substantive data on transposition and implementation of these rules by the Member States; considers, nevertheless, that some Member States are still failing fully to meet their objectives of correct and timely transposition of European legislation into national law, and, therefore, that objective data should remain at the core of the Internal Market Scoreboard exercise through systematic, independent monitoring; whereas a more qualitative approach needs to be adopted whi ...[+++]ch looks beyond the figures and identifies the reasons for this deficit;

After all, the Internal Market Scoreboard, the Consumer Markets Scoreboard, the SOLVIT Report and the Citizens Signpost Service are all, in fact, about the same thing, and we should receive them at the same time.

These deadlines are normally set at two months, but the Scoreboard reveals that the average response time is almost twice that, with some Member States taking 150 days or more (Portugal, Italy and Belgium).
