The recent scientific draft produced by the US Department of Health and Human Services (Agency for Toxic and Disease Registry) entitled ‘Toxicological Profile for Chromium’ of September 2008 (Chapter 3.2.2. ‘Oral Exposure’) indicates that the systematic ingestion of substances containing hexavalent chromium produced serious cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, haematological, hepatic and renal disorders, together with cancer, in human subjects and in animals used as guinea pigs.
