I do have some question about effective oversight over the RCMP, and one of the reasons is that the RCMP public complaints apparently has a mandamus against the RCMP to gain access to confidential files and reports on confidential informants, and the RCMP are saying they don't have the authority to gain access to that, basing this, apparently, on a federal judgment that dates to some time ago.
