By that, I mean that as we receive our direction from the national executive committee, they, in turn, receive direction from their provincial executive committees.

Account should also be taken of the report of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) World Reference Laboratory for Foot-and-Mouth Disease, which is also the Community Reference Laboratory for foot-and-mouth disease designated in accordance with Commission Decision 2006/393/EC (5), on a list of priority antigens recommended for antigen banks, which was endorsed by the Technical Committee (6) in October 2008 and by the 77th Meeting of the Executive Committee in December 2008 (7) of the European Commission for the Control of Foot-and-Mouth Disease (EuFMD) at the FAO.

Q. whereas the UNHCR's Executive Committee Note on the Exclusion Clauses of the Geneva Conventions has clearly stated that 'if the protection provided by refugee law were permitted to afford protection to perpetrators of grave offences, the practice of international protection would be in direct conflict with national and international law, and would contradict the humanitarian and peaceful nature of the concept of asylum',

Specific examples include the need to ensure that the EC is in a position to participate effectively in negotiations for global environmental conventions to which the EC must later become a Party and to participate in the work of the Global Environmental Facility [32]; or to participate effectively in UN bodies dealing with refugee and asylum issues - and notably pursuing efforts to enable the EC to make a fully effective contribution to the work of UNHCR through enhanced observer status in the UNHCR Executive Committee [33].
