Pour enchaîner sur les remarques du sénateur Eaton, j'ai cru comprendre que dans certaines parties de l'Europe — de l'Écosse à la Scandinavie — on a obtenu d'excellents résultats dans des propriétés forestières de production grâce à des systèmes très bien organisés qui permettent des récoltes quasi continues selon un modèle de gestion des terres durable parce qu'on a fait attention à des aspects comme le ruissellement de surface, l'acidification et, bien sûr, qu'on a pris soin de choisir des essences nobles qui poussent dans les conditions ambiantes.
To follow up on Senator Eaton's comment, it is my understanding that certain parts of Europe — from Scotland through to Scandinavia — have been successful in farming trees in well organized systems that give rise to a semi- continuous harvesting approach and sustainable land management in regard to runoff, acidification and, of course, choosing somewhat elite species that grow well under the given circumstances.
