Assistant Auditor General for Section C (annual audits section) with responsibility for financial and compliance audits of the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economic and Business Affairs, the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Building as well as nationwide pay audits carried out by the Danish National Audit Office.

Takes the view that carbon capture and storage (CCS) could play an important role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions (as acknowledged in the Commission's 2050 low-carbon roadmap and its Energy Roadmap 2050), at least for a transitional period, especially for energy-intensive industries; notes, however, the lack of public and private investment in this area; calls on the Commission to analyse the best way forward as regards the development of CCS technologies in the EU, and to propose appropriate measures within the 2030 framew ...[+++]ork in order to mobilise stakeholders and the necessary funding; stresses that both renewables and CCS have a role to play in the future EU energy mix and should not be regarded as being in competition with one another; asks the Commission, furthermore, to intensify exchanges of best practice and information with the US and Canada on CCS technology;

Emphasises that energy savings achieved by means of improved energy efficiency offer the most cost-effective means of securing additional CO2 reductions; draws attention to the untapped potential in the areas of life cycle energy performance of buildings, in particular existing buildings, the transport sector (including air transport), public procurement, the manufacture of energy-intensive products and energy production, transformation and transmission, including district heating and cooling; reiterates that concrete measures in these areas are essential and draws attention to the relevant proposals included in the Bendtsen and Kolarska-Bobińska reports; urges that energy-saving measures must be implemented first and foremost at nat ...[+++]ional, regional and local level and that a communication strategy must be developed for EU projects so as to provide both undertakings and consumers with full information; underlines the potential in introducing a scheme for energy saving obligations for the energy industry, as suggested in the Commission’s Energy Efficiency Plan, which has already had a positive effect in some Member States;

It excludes deliveries for transformation, use by the energy producing industries, and distribution losses.

It is designed to examine the links between industrial, energy and environmental legislation and to ensure the coherence of individual initiatives, whilst improving both sustainability and competitiveness.

The Ministers invite the oil and gas industries to consider the market potential for renewable energy, in particular offshore wind, within the North Sea and to further the existing co-operation with the offshore renewable energy industry with respect to the sharing of information, technology and infrastructure’.
