1. Sans préjudice des articles 87 et 88 du traité, et sous réserve des autres dispositions de droit communautaire, les États membres peuvent, lors de l'introduction d'un système de péages et/ou de droits d'usage des infrastructures, octroyer une compensation pour ces charges notamment par une réduction des taux à appliquer pour les taxes sur les véhicules, le cas échéant, à un niveau inférieur aux taux minimaux établis à l'annexe I.
1. Without prejudice to Articles 87 and 88 of the Treaty, and subject to other provisions of Community law, Member States may, on introducing a system of tolls and/or user charges for infrastructure, provide compensation for these charges, in particular by reducing the rates of vehicle taxes, where appropriate, to a level below the minimum rates in Annex I to the Directive.
